Label News : DDT - In The Name Of God Pre-orders up via TSO

D.D.T. was founded in 1979 by Pierre Tougas, Paul Tougas, François Tougas, Sylvain d'Arcy & Denis Côté. Known for their attitude, work ethic and hard-hitting riffs, D.D.T. were considered by many to be the first ever Québécois heavy metal band. The band went on to play countless shows and tours throughout the 80s with acts such as Voivod, Sword and Anvil, releasing a number of demos that earned them the title of Canadian Heavy Metal pioneers. It was after the release of their cult EP ''Let The Screw'' in 1984 that the band went through numerous changes and eventually started shifting towards a much heavier sound.

After almost 40 years, the TSO collective is proud to release ''IN THE NAME OF GOD'' to the world. Originally recorded between 1986 and 1987, this near-forgotten lost treasure marked the band's new beginning as a four-piece with newcomer Richard Pérusse behind the drum kit. Unlike Let The Screw, this recording did not have a proper release nor did it receive any proper widespread distribution, though old heads from La Belle Province may recognize some of these songs from the band's live setlists back then. Band leader Pierre Tougas writes :

'In The Name Of God was recorded and mixed in Sherbrooke on a Fostex 14 inch 8 track recorder inside our rehearsal studio. We recorded 10 additional songs that did not end up on this demo, because we felt they were going in a different direction. Some of them were released on the following `Victims` demo tape. Following the lack of interest from record labels, and the fact that the EP and touring was out of breath since its release, Denis and SYD parted with us to pursue other ventures. We auditioned drummers as we realized that we could also function as a power trio with a lead singer. We hired Richard Pérusse, a DDT fan with a lot of drumming experience, who loved heavy metal and was a connoisseur of the genre. We later started the club gigs once again to polish our style and evolution into the genre. This demo was

a prelude to the `Victims' demo recorded months later".

Following the release of the aforementioned Victims demo and a few more cassettes, the band changed their name to ADAM'S APPLES in the 90s, adopting a more hard-rock oriented direction. DDT would reform in 2014 with Pierre Tougas' son, Phil Tougas on guitar, releasing a live DVD in 2018 called Still Toxic that was filmed during a performance with legendary Canadian Speed Metal band Exciter.
