Via Richter Scale Records : "The internet can be a great tool if used in the right way, with a few clicks you can sonically riffle through a formative music scene and immerse yourself as if you were there. This can definitely explain how genre revivals are not held to one buzzing scene or location anymore, small bands can find their influence with greater ease and grow from anywhere with at least a 56k connection.

Chthe’ilist is one such creature, hailing from Quebec, Canada, the duo play a genre that is far removed from the deathcore and tech-death that the province is best known for.

The four track (one intro, three songs), internet-only demo Amechth’ntaas’m'rriachth seeks influence from the bizarre early Finnish scene (Demilich, Demigod, Adramelech and a ton of short-lived bands I haven’t heard yet!) and also some elements of obscure bands such as Sweden’s Crematory and the hidden gem of Timeghoul (got the Dark Descent Records comp at MDF!). Within the twenty minutes of material, they go through a wealth of moods, from unorthodox assaults at the beginning of “Into the Vaults of Ingurgitating Obscurity (Masticated by the Cryptic Shapes That Guards the Gateway of Eil’udom)”, to much more somber soundscapes (with low emitted chants!) by the middle of its six minutes and also at the center of the equally lengthy “Ve’coiitn’aphnat’smaalà”.

All of this is done with an old school mindset, but the raw talent of the musicians makes this a very captivating experience. through perfectly crafted (and completely natural sounding!) drum work, intuitively executed solos, riffs that are as inspiring as inspired and some reeeaally twisted vocals (many creatures come out of this swamp!), Chthe’ilist deliver a striking and authentic collection of songs. The sound on this thing is a work of passion also, echoing instruments clash with occasional synths, a tornado of growls, alien sounds and rasps in a perfect harmony of atmosphere.

The band is currently working on their first album, which will see these four movements re-recorded and five or six new songs added, can’t fucking wait!" Originally written by Richter Scale Records
